Bell Block Bypass

Client:  Waka Kotahi, New Zealand Transport Agency

Completion: June 2010

The Bell Bypass project involves the construction of a new section of State Highway between Mangati Rd Bell Block and Vickers Rd, Waiwhakaiho.

Construction work includes mass earthworks; new roading; reinforced concrete bridges; underpass construction; major timber pole retaining wall; state highway traffic management; underground services; archaeological excavations; and ancillary works such as footpaths, safety barriers, lighting, road marking and signs.

The responsibilities of Whitaker Civil Engineering included liaison with Iwi and The Historic Places Trust, Taranaki Regional Council and service providers, management of subcontractors, project management, financial management, management of project health and safety, environmental management and quality assurance.
